Our Volunteer Coordinator, Matthew Sowerby, organised our biggest Get Creative event to date. This year’s festival, part of the BBC’s Get Creative Festival 2018, https://getcreativeuk.com/event/brecon-expression/ on Sat 24th March, celebrated creativity of all kinds in the local area and beyond. The event included numerous stalls with artists and crafters displaying, selling and demonstrating their work including woodturners, haberdashery, paper weaving, knitting, crochet, photography and loads more.
The Mayor of Brecon, Ieuan Williams, said “As Mayor of Brecon I was more than pleased to be invited to the Brecon Mind Get Creative event in the market hall on Sat 24th March. It was good to see a mix of traders and those offering an opportunity to try something different. Hopefully those who stopped to try something new will take it to the next level and continue with their new hobby or adventure”.
Assembly Member, Kirsty Williams who also attended said “Get Creative was an excellent event. It showed not only how much local talent we have in this area but also how supportive people are to the excellent work of Brecon & District Mind, an organisation I will always give as much support to as I can.”
As well as numerous stalls to both see and try creative activities there were also performances on the stage including the fantastic local ‘Samba Brecon’ drum group.
Huge thanks to all the stallholders and everyone who came along to support the event.
