Machynlleth Trip Sept 2015
On Sunday 20th September, I was lucky to be included in a trip from Brecon to Machynlleth , to visit the Centre of Alternative Technology, along with Alan, Andy and Avril.
We set off at 8.30am and arrived at about 10.15am. We paid for our tickets for which we had a concession due to booking online. We were escorted into a cable car to take us up to the centre and once we had arrived there, started off with a hot cup of tea.
Once we had finished our tea, we started to browse around the C.A.T. , experiencing tunnels, ‘ECO ‘ Houses, green houses , noticing recycled products being used for general practice e.g corks from wine bottles being used for insulation in houses, or seeing how much energy we could save by doing simple things eg. Lowering temperatures on washing machines, or putting less water in kettles.
The C.A.T inspired us to think how we could save money and woodland and be healthier by changing our diets to eating less meat and dairy – putting less cattle out on to grass. After 2 hours we took a break for lunch.
When we carried on browsing Alan & Andy took a slide down the ‘worm tunnel’ just for a bit of fun whilst me and Avril just watched with amusement.
At about 3pm, we decided to round up the day with a walk in the woodland then we set off at 4pm.
As the journey took 2 hours we stopped half way for a meal at the Eagle Inn, Rhayader. At only 5pm this was a brilliant stop to break our journey; the food was very good as well!
All in all it was a good day out for everybody.
